La Chapelle is situated in the heart of Eixample (Barcelona’s gay district). As a result, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice and there are plenty of great bars in the area (which are all featured in our Barcelona Gay Escape). There are so many bars it’s near-impossible to choose an overall winner.
Every bar has something different to offer; a different vibe, style, people, events, food and drink. If we can’t judge everyone by the same criteria, how can we judge them? By different criteria! We’ve included La Chapelle in our Barcelona Gay Escape because it does what it does best and what it does is very popular. That’s why it can afford to stay open 7 days a week
So what do they do? Tell us already! La Chapelle has a lively but intimate feel. It’s not a big space (which help to make it more intimate). People squeezing around each other is no bad thing though, especially if you’re trying to meet people. And meet people you can! You don’t need to be shy. Everyone is keen to meet people and it’s a very non-judgmental space in which you can just be yourself.
Maybe the best way to describe it is a ‘conversational bar’. There’s music, of course, but it won’t drown out your anecdotes. The design of the bar lends itself to this atmosphere. It has a relaxed, even homely, feel with touches of vibrancy to keep everything… vibrant! If you want a warm and friendly place to meet new people, this is your best bet. That’s why we’ve included it in our Barcelona Gay Escape.
Final Summary
La Chapelle is small but intimate and very social. It’s a great place to meet people. Right in the centre of the gay district.
