At 2:30am, Arena Aire changes from being a mostly ladies bar (men can only get in if they are guests of a girl friend) to an all-inclusive club. It’s a lot of fun and very popular. It’s located in Barcelona’s ‘gay district’ of Eixample so it attracts a lot of people. Of course, being that it was a buzzing bar beforehand, it holds onto many of the same clientele from before its metamorphosis into a fully-fledged, late-night, gay club.
It’s apart of the most successful LGBT chain in Barcelona: the Arena Group. We are really happy to be working with these guys and, as a result, able to bring you great offers through our Barcelona Gay Escape.
The music is usually a mixture of Spanish pop, 70s and 80s classics and lots of music from gay music icons. You’re unlikely to find music like this in most heterosexual clubs. You’re also unlikely to find atmosphere like this anywhere else. This is something we love about the bars and clubs in Barcelona. Everywhere is unique. Some work, some kind of don’t but people are willing to branch out, be different and embrace change. Arena Classic’s retrospective angle is a futuristic shot of the past we all want. That’s why we had to have it in our Barcelona Gay Escape!
It’s not just the music which revives the past, it’s the people who go there too. You certainly couldn’t say people go in fancy dress but there is certainly a subtle (and not so subtle) appreciation for the 70s and 80s in the clothes people wear. If this sounds like a taste you can relate to, this might just be the place for you! If so, it's open on Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30am – 6am.
Final Summary
Arena Classic is a well-known and much-loved club venue in Barcelona. This should definitely be an option if you’re going out on a Friday or Saturday!
